Access Support for Arts Organizations

Minnesota Fringe is proud to support the accessibility initiatives of our fellow arts organizations and small theater companies. Through a generous equipment donation from the Guthrie Theater and with support from the Minnesota State Arts Board Accessible Arts grant, we offer Audio Description equipment for rental beginning in January 2025 and captioning equipment beginning in November 2025.

Please submit equipment requests at least 3 business days in advance of your desired pick up dates. Please complete a form for EACH USE of the equipment you are requesting. (FOR EXAMPLE: If Theater A wants you to describe this weekend and Theater B has requested audio description for next weekend, we need you to fill out two different requests.)

Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment can be picked up / dropped off at the Minnesota Fringe offices (79 - 13th Avenue NE, Suite 112, Minneapolis, MN 55413), Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. Late returns may incur a late fee.

There is a $30 usage fee (for each rental period) for Audio Description Equipment and a $200 usage fee (for each rental period) for Open Caption Equipment which will be invoiced to the Organizations / Theater Company listed on the form. NOTE: Open Caption renters must also provide a Certificate of Insurance specifically covering the Compusult CD-2400N Caption Display unit and its accessories for $6,710 and listing Minnesota Fringe Festival - 79 13th Ave NE, Suite #112, Minneapolis, MN 55413 as additional insured. This certificate can be obtained from your general liability insurance provider at no additional charge. Organizations fiscally sponsored by Minnesota Fringe will receive a 50% discount on rental fees.

Open Caption

Audio Description kits includes a 16-unit carrying/charging case, two transmitters (1 plugin, 1 portable), 15 receivers, 2 microphones (1 headset, 1 steno mask), and assorted earpieces (including t-coils).
Open Caption kits include 23"w x 66"l x 9"d road case with a display unit, stand, jumpstick with software, power and connection cables. You will need to download software to a laptop to use the kit.
