Frequently Asked Questions

  • How to Fringe

With over 550 performances of 99 different shows, the Minnesota Fringe Festival can be overwhelming! So we've made a quick video to demonstrate how easy it can be to attend:

Head over to the 2025 Shows page to see a list of all 99 productions in this year's festival. Then use the sorting tools to find the genre, content, feature, or venue that interests you. Click on any show title to read a short description or go to the show page for complete information. You can also visit the Schedule Page to see a list of performances in each venue on any given day.

Tickets are available for purchase online through individual show pages or you can buy them at the box office at each venue. Head over to the Box Office Policies page for more information on ticket types, prices, passes, & discounts, access services, refunds and more.

  • How do I buy Tickets?

Tickets can be purchased online in advance from an individual show page, or at a venue box office at the show. Online ticket sales close at 11:59pm the day before the performance.

    Regular tickets are $25.

    Passholder reservations are $5.

Multi-show passes are available online until June 30, in person at Preview Performances (July 21 & 30), and at the Information Booth in the Rarig Center throughout the festival (until sold out).

When you arrive at your venue, go to the box office to claim your online purchase, buy a ticket, or redeem your multi-show pass. You'll get a seat token that gives you access to the theatre. All seats are general admission - first come, first served.

A one-time purchase of a Festival Button helps Minnesota Fringe provide platforms for diverse, inclusive, and equitable artistic expression for all.

Festival Buttons can be purchased online until June 30, in person at Preview Performances (July 21 & 30), at the Information Booth in the Rarig Center, and at any venue box office throughout the festival.  Buttons also provide access to a host of discounts during our events:

    • $5 off any multi-show pass purchase
    • Admission to Preview Performances July 21 & 30
    • Button Deals on food and drinks throughout the festival
    • Discounts on tickets to shows throughout the year, found in our bi-weekly Fringe File Newsletter

A much more detailed version of ticketing can be found at our Box Office Policies page. You can also reach us at boxoffice@fringefestival.org

  • Are there Access Services?

Need a show that has Audio Description, American Sign Language Interpretation, or Open Captioning? Check out our Accessibility Page for a complete list of shows in mid-July.

Tickets are FREE for audience members using Audio Description or ASL Interpretation access services.

  • Is there a Printed Schedule?

On the Schedule Page, there is a button called "Print Schedule" on the top right of the grid that will populate a PDF for home printing.

Once you have created/logged into your own account, you can design your own personal Fringe schedule by clicking on the "Add to Schedule" button on any show page or on the schedule page. On your account dashboard, you can view your schedule in the "My Schedule" tab. There is a tiny "Print Schedule" button just above your schedule to the right.

We also have a PDF of Shows by Day (updated 06/27) that you can view and print from home.

If you're feeling "old school" you can also download our Sortable Schedule (updated 06/27) in an Excel file. It is sorted in alphabetical order by title and has filters so you can find shows by title, venue, and time!

  • How do I Search for Shows?

Use the Search Bar: In the upper righthand corner, there is a magnifying glass icon - use it to search by show title, artist, company name, random noun, etc, etc.

Search by festival, genre, content, features, or venue: There are a variety of search options on the 2025 Shows page to help figure out what, when, where (or why!) you are interested in seeing a performance during your Festival adventure. You can even drill down to a list of shows with similar characteristics from any individual show page. Check out our Diagram of a Show Page to learn more.

Talk to people: Sound scary? Just look for someone in a lanyard. Lanyards are worn by Fringe artists, and there are literally HUNDREDS of them wandering around, dying to tell you about their show.

Read and write reviews: See what audiences are raving about, then return the favor by letting others know what you thought. You can look at reviews on individual show pages or in aggregate.

  • How do Reviews work?

To leave a review about a show, log in to your account (person icon in upper right corner of the screen), navigate to the show page of the show, click on the "Review" tab, and leave your review. Don't forget to use the slider to leave a Kitty score!

To flag a review that may need to be taken down, click "Flag Inappropriate Review" and tell us why it is inappropriate. The team will be notified to examine your request. Reviews will be removed for the following reasons:

    • Including foul language
    • Gibberish (Covfefe)
    • Personal attacks
    • Comparing one show to another
    • Someone involved in the show is reviewing their own show

To see all reviews, simply navigate to our 2025 Audience Reviews page or click on a reviewers name to see a list of reviews submitted by that person.

  • What are Independently Produced shows?

Independently Produced shows are presented directly by the artist as a part of the festival. These performances may deviate from the typical festival experience and take place in venues that are not staffed or managed by our organization. Minnesota Fringe is not responsible for front-of-house or technical services at Independently Produced shows, so rules may vary from Fringe-managed houses.

All Show Comps, Ticket Vouchers, and Multi-Show Passes will be honored at Independently Produced shows. However, each producer has the option to institute a rush line for patrons with Artist Passes, deviate from the usual 60 minute show length, or sell 100% of tickets online in advance.

Check with their box office personnel when you arrive for the show for more details. We encourage you to read the "More Information" sections on the show pages carefully before purchasing your tickets and scheduling your day.

  • Is there a Food Truck?

Rather than bring outside food vendors, we collaborate with the tasty locally-owned restaurants in the neighborhoods where our theaters are located.

A Festival Button gets you discounts at select restaurants on select days. There are some custom, quick grab-and-go options (as well as a few other favorites that are a little less zippy). Come out a bit early and taste the neighborhood!

There are concessions sold at Theatre in the Round, the Southern Theater, and Phoenix Theater.

THERE WILL BE A FOOD TRUCK AT THE CLOSING NIGHT PARTY ON AUGUST 10 AT THE CEDAR!

  • About Minnesota Fringe

Minnesota Fringe connects adventurous artists with adventurous audiences through festivals and dynamic, year-round programs and events.

Our cornerstone program is the Minnesota Fringe Festival. From professional stage veterans to first-timers, the Fringe Festival is one of the largest performing arts avenues in America that allows anyone and everyone an equal shot at sharing their art. All shows are selected by random lottery. Yep -- that's right! Each application is assigned a number. Then, we publicly pull ping-pong balls out of a cage with every number one-by-one until they have all been drawn. Shows not selected for the festival are placed on a waiting list in case someone else drops out. Producers are paid70% of direct ticket sales. The Festival is an economic boost for for artists, distributing over $2 million to artists over the last decade. It's also an economic drive for our city, creating a $1.9 Million impact each year.

Minnesota Fringe supports artists to take artistic risks, develop entrepreneurial skills, and find new avenues to connect with adventurous audiences. Sign up for our newsletter to receive updates every two weeks throughout the year with news about Fringe, our signature Button Deals for exclusive discounts on performing arts events around town, and artist opportunities.

Thank you for being part of our year-round Adventure!
