A must see for MN Fringe 2024!
I will be thinking about this production for a long time. It is both excellent and exactly the kind of boundary-pushing theatre you want to see at Fringe. The text combines classical mythology and dialogue that feels extremely Caryl Churchill-esque, leaving you in a liminal space in which the main character’s determination to hold onto herself is the only thing keeping you tethered. This show has so many layers and nuanced, purposefully confusing little moments that I feel like I need to see it at least five more times in order to fully understand it— It feels like the kind of play that each time you see it, you’ll come away with a new perspective on it or a new “aha!” moment. Even just on the first view though, it was beautiful and powerful, a very intimate and at times intense (though not imo re-traumatizing, which I find very important) exploration of gaslighting, abuse, and coercion in many different forms. There are also moments of humor, some lighthearted and some a bit twisted. Overall a very unique, complex show and I think a must see for MN Fringe 2024. I saw it on an evening that had a small audience and the actors still managed to put on a great show. I was captivated from start to finish and absolutely recommend it if you want to see something a little out of the box.
