If you missed this that's an L for you tbh

This was brilliant. I walked in expecting a straight comedy and was met with one of the most interesting explorations of mental health I've ever seen. For the record-- it was also deeply funny. Maybe the best use of a carpi-sun ever put to stage.

Iconic

This show is charming, hilarious and very well performed. Eileen uses the space and very limited props in a way that is interesting, engaging and so stupid funny. The pacing was tight and kept it moving while also allowing for some pauses that felt really impactful as an audience member. The writing was great, the show was clearly very well rehearsed and has a strong overall core message. Truly a gem, I would highly recommend adding it to your weekend two line up.

Insane Energy and So Much Heart

Lily keeps the energy up a kind of insane amount--- the show had some truly wonderfully crafted moments of physical comedy and I found it to be a nice balance of comedic beats and heartfelt address. Where it feel a little flat to me was the final maybe 10-15 minutes. I felt there was a bit of a narrative disconnect between the final two-ish scenes and the closing monologue. I wish there had been one more scene or moment between 2020 and 2026 that could've help to show how she came to the conclusions she came to from this whole exercise. But overall this was a very, very fun show that does play (haha, get it?) with some really interesting ideas surrounding competition, teamwork and personal growth.

Show: ANNA
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Very strong, emotional show

Overall, this is a very strong show. It starts a little rocky-- personally I found the dialogue in the first scene to be very... exposition-y. Which, to be fair, it is the exposition. But it was one of those scene were it is very clear the character is only asking questions to make sure that the audience is up to speed. The writing really hits its stride in the final few minutes of the first scene-- it does a great job of keeping a very O'Neill vibe while also feeling adapted and modernized. The cast is outstanding. A breathtaking performance from Caitlin Sparks, I was so genuinely worried for Anna throughout the show-- it was almost distressing to watch. Taylor Evans as Burke was also a standout performance for me. He got a great range of emotion out of the character and the performance felt motivated and grounded. I also want to give a shout out to the costume design-- it felt incredibly specific and fit each character so well. There where also some very subtle direction moments that really made the whole show feel polished. There was a lot of drinking and pouring of drinks in the show and I'll be real, it did bother me that they weren't even a little bit trying to hide the fact that there was nothing being poured. Like, does it matter that the cap was clearly still on the bottle? No, but it did draw my attention every single time. This is, however, an incredibly nit-picky critique. This show is raw, emotional and very well put together. If you've still got room in your Fringe lineup I would highly recommend checking it out.

Company: One T Productions
Show: After the End
Venue: Mixed Blood

Truly Incredible

The dialogue felt natural and the performance was very grounded. Did an excellent job of connecting with the audience and used the space beautifully. While overall a more serious show, there were many well crafted moments of comedy that kept it from feeling too doom and gloom. The included songs really supported the overall piece and also sounded great. Would highly, highly recommend.
