God Only Knows What I Just Watched
Saw Good Vibrations, a play about the story of the Beach Boys, and honestly, it was a wild ride. There was beautiful music, the making (and not-so-great initial reception) of Pet Sounds, the whole Beatles vs. Beach Boys rivalry, family drama, creative genius, and then at some point we took a hard left into a full psychedelic LSD trip explaining how it all came crashing down. And somehow…it worked. It felt a little like getting on the Tunnel of Love ride expecting a sweet nostalgic ride and halfway through realizing Brian Wilson is driving, Paul McCartney is chasing you, everyone has taken acid, and Pet Sounds is playing in the background, while Murray Wilson is literally barking. Funny, strange, sad, fascinating, and genuinely really good. If you are a person who loves a good show with singing, dancing and a lot of wild fun, you should go see this today. I highly recommend it to all.
