Growing Up There and Here

I saw the first edition of More, Better (Thurs. 8/6) and really enjoyed the program with Sufian Zhemukhov opening with a story from the USSR, and Christopher Nelson with a set of stories on Growing Up Small in the Midwest. Both tellers supplemented their tales with live instrumentation (Tchaikovsky on guitar; Messersmith via Ukulele), and the stories were both personal, but connected well wth this member of the audience. There were a couple transition/timing issues that could use some tightening, but this was a great way to start my Fringe.

Goddamnamericanheroes

There were multiple ICE shows this Fringe, but Witness loudly wasn’t a recap or just an editorial, it was a short trip directly inside the resistance including camera footage of up close interaction with the federal invasion forces. All countries have uniformed heroes, but this nation has always depended on its people standing up for right. Thus it was at the start and at almost every major step we’ve taken, and thus it will need to be to move forward. Thank you neighbor.

Great Scott!

Heard there was a Jen Scott show, asked what it was called, then said’I don’t care, where is it?’ Got there, and it was everything I expected. Smart. Funny. Touching. So much of what I love about Fringe; a showcase where great local talent like Jen can be heard.
