H.G. Wells' THE INVISIBLE MAN

Physical Comedy Gold!

I know very little about the Invisible Man but I loved this show! The physical comedy in this show is some of the best I have ever seen in the Fringe! The story telling was clear with a cast who were working their butts off! I would watch this show 100 times over! PS I normally do not laugh out loud at shows, this show had me cracking up the whole time!

Must See to Believe

The concept of a humorous take on a classic story of hubris intrigued me, but I had my doubts. These performers made it work beyond anything I might have expected. Previous experience with the story is in no way a necessity, as the show hits all the core beats of the source material while making it a laugh riot. Put this on your schedule!

Enjoyable from start to finish

The cast was wonderful, keeping in character (though they had many).I loved the humor and sense of fun throughout. I laughed so hard I snorted and cackled! I enjoyed the adaptations that were done. Make time to see “The Invisible Man” at Southern Theater ! Well done cast crew and director. Well done

Make Time On Your Fringe Schedule To SEE THIS SHOW

Hats off to the director/playwright of this show, he did a magnificent job. What a delight! The multitude of theatrical devices used in the show, as well as a stellar cast, make this a must-see show for this fringe festival. So much fun.

A perfect romp

I was incredibly impressed with the amount of thought put into the creation and execution of this show. The script was well-crafted, the performances were highly entertaining, and it's hard to imagine the entire presentation being much better. Definitely a must-see!

So very clever and fun

It helps, I think, to appreciate theater techniques, but thoroughly enjoyable at an experiential level. Feedback: tone down the cheesy accents a little and slowdown—it was a little difficult to catch the dialog, especially the guy with bandages over his face.

My Face Hurts From Laughing

This is one of those rare shows that seems too good for Fringe. The acting talent is sky-high, the production quality is great, there’s a darn SCORE to the whole thing, and the writing and directing are so excellent that you forget they’re there, which is exactly what a playwright and director could hope for. The actors work their tails off and have boundless energy, and I had zero trouble following a story I didn’t know a thing about going in. The star of my Fringe experience so far - you won’t regret catching this one.

A MUST SEE!!

This show had incredible stage effects that were very well executed! The comedic timing of the (very) hardworking actors had the audience laughing and clapping throughout the show. The shadow work during the flashback sequence was especially impressive. Special shoutout to the bits with the moving staircase and the newsboy sequence: absolutely hysterical. This show is a must see!!

Ingenious, Witty, and Suspender-some

Though the role of the Invisible Man remained the same, the other members of the cast went through costume changes, different UK accents, and silhouette shadow play with a breathtaking amount of energy and humor, to boot. My favorite bits were the ones with the telephone, the stairs, and the handcuffs. #clauderains/reins

Great physical comedy

Wonderful show! The production finds a joke wherever possible: from physical choices, to props, to sound cues. Extremely polished show!

So. Glad. I. Made. It!!!! This may have been my favorite show! The physical comedy was spot on! The timing was great! The story hilarious! The going upstairs bit had me rolling! I absolutely loved this show! What a happy, happy surprise!

All of these actors put in their all. Set was so inventive and fun! I loved it and haven't stopped talking about it since seeing it.

The Hidden (Or Invisible???) Gem of the Festival

Southern Theater was pretty packed for the final showing of Invisible Man, but for some reason it’s near the middle for audience reviews...more people should’ve seen it. This is a fantastic vaudeville rollercoaster filled with creativity and ingenuity; with inspired physical comedy from all four performers. The final ten minutes, a breathless sprint through Sussex, is one of the best things I’ve seen at Fringe this year.

I SWEATED A LOT

Maybe it was because I was laughing so much. Maybe it was because I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what clever joke or excellently executed, comedic physicality came next. Instead of spending your money on a day pass to a gym, do yourself a favor a buy a ticket to this show. Your abs will thank you.

Get your butt to H.G. Wells' The Invisible Man!

What a mind-blowing trip to see the iconic Invisible Man brought to life in a rapid-fire farce. This adaptation is brilliant with 4 incredible actors bursting with talent and serious skills in the physical comedy department. Buckle your seatbelt for an energy drink speed show with hilariously choreographed scenes. But it's not just laughs, the story has meat. It's mysterious and will keep you guessing. The times when the Invisible Man is seen covered in clothing were so intriguing and will feed your curiosity. Later when he physically disappears yet is still in the room, the illusion is gifted through clever pantomime and stage magic. I remember being in awe of the Invisible Man as a child. This production not only rekindled all the nostalgia for me but lit it on fire in the most exhilarating way possible. Bravo!

An abundance of energy and humor

The script, set, and lighting for The Invisible Man were engaging and fun! The cast was amazing with an abundance of energy, humor, and exceptional timing! The show was incredibly well done and entertaining.

Best Show We Saw at Fringe in 2023!

Sorry if you missed out on "HG Wells'The Invisible Man," brought from several Lyric Arts in Anoka veterans, because the show concluded last night. And sorry, Nissa Nordland Morgan, because as much as I liked your "Stabby Stab Stab," the "Invisible Man" was by far, our favorite show and best time at Fringe this year! We had out-and-out laughter throughout, there were fun and funny lines, terrific pieces of physical humor (the 'staircase' joke never got stale, with two actors stepping in place, while two others circled paintings behind them to emulate movement up - and - down steps. The ending was another classic bit, in a run of well-written and well-designed scenes. Big hats off to the director, Jake Sung-Guk Sullivan, and to his stars Courtney VonVett, Brendan Veerman (both Lyric Arts performers with Jake) and Tucker Brewster Schuster and Doni Marinos.

Phenomenal

The spectacle of physical comedy, the set, and the flow created an amazing experience. It’s hard to believe a story of what was just observed is able to be packed into less than an hour, yet feeling like the perfect amount of time. Can’t wait to see what else this team creates.
