Dark Comedy Winner For A Disney Adult

I'm an adult fan of Disney who lived through the 90s revival of Disney animated movies; this show touched a lot of topics, references, and even props that brought back memories. But more than that, the show was just fun. The brothers reminded me of the clumsy duo from 101 Dalmatians (Jasper and Horace) only more violent and easier manipulated (by the voice of a disembodied head.) Disney was the right mix of sympathetic and creepy. It just worked for me across the board.

Intriguing concept, funny moments!

I went with friends and my friends found it hilarious. Violent shows are not my thing, but I still had a fine time. Walt was awesome, super believable as a severed Walt Disney head brought back to life!

What a gem! The script is sharp and funny. The cast mine every nuance from their characters. Dark comedy has always been my jam and this one hits a home run. Go see!

Dark, twisted Disney(in the best sense!)

The actors did wonderfully! Walt was excellent. Loved the writing, and it was really well researched with Disney facts and folklore. I thought it was interesting that it took place in the 90s during the Disney Renaissance, too. Go see this show!!

Uncle Walt Shined but I needed more

I loved the concept of the show but it was somehow the portrayal of the two siblings felt over and under-acted at the same. One's vocal expression sounded like a theatre kid trying so hard to project that the inflection/emotion was off. While the other felt like using 'language' was the only way to get his persona across. I just wish those two characters were developed a little more. Jeffery Goodson as WALT however was spectacular!! From the look, facial expression and flawless monologues.

It's a Malevolent World After All

I very much enjoyed seeing uncle walt! The opening bit sets the violent, and (pardon the wordplay) goofy tone perfectly. The two brothers play well off of each other, and walt himself was a treat as he egged them on. This works best for those who have a love of disney history, but never fear- their program has all the appropriate facts and tidbits for everyone who doesn't to feel knowledgable going into the show. Heads up (oops more wordplay)- sit in the center, not the sides!

Dripping with satire and blood

I think that I have seen this show once before, but even if it seemed very familiar, it was still a very solid dark comedy that was well performed by the ensemble. It kind of irked me that Walt's blocking was so stagnant, but that is a very small criticism.

Fun Premise, Lost Potential

The concept is strong (though there's a bump or two) and Walt is well portrayed, but the staging and other performances didn't hit the same quality level. An entertaining outing but it fell a bit short.

Walt's Wild, Wacky, and Wonderfully Weird Ride!

"Uncle Walt" is a bonkers joyride through the absurd and hilarious! World Crime League delivers a Disney parody that will have you snorting with laughter Two loveable losers, a frozen Walt Disney head, and a ransom plot that goes hilariously awry. It's as if the Coen Brothers decided to rewrite a Disney movie with a dash of Monty Python. Luke Peterson and Mike Dee are a riot as the bumbling brothers, while Jeffrey Goodson brings an unexpected zing to the head of Walt. But be warned: this ain't your grandma's Disney! There's plenty of naughty humor, strong language, and a rather chilling Walt Disney. So, if you're up for a wild and wacky adventure, grab your mouse ears and head over to the "Uncle Walt" a laugh-out-loud romp you won't want to miss!

Painful to get through

This was a painful show to witness. The actor playing Walt was quite good, if a little wooden in physicality (which may or may not have been a character choice), but the other two seemed very uncomfortable and elementary in their performance. The story was also uncomfortable, it felt like the neurodivergent kid getting picked on.

Disney Adults Find Their Telltale Head

This show is Peak Fringe and a good first one back at the festival. It's unexpected in concept and quirky, with some funny bits and the always-classic Cain and Abel story. Some opening night jitters kept it from really shining, but by the end of its run the ensemble cast's chemistry will be electric. Each actor has their own sort of charisma and charm that complement each other wonderfully. You can tell that the actors had a good time getting their teeth into this show. A couple of points off came from mismatched blood effects - some quite realistic and some a bit flat; maybe that's nit-picky, but the former really drew attention to the latter. I also had possibly the worst seat in the house. The lid of the cooler fully blocked an actor's face for what felt like about 20% of the show - don't make my mistake! Either be very tall or avoid sitting stage right, second row, third seat from the left. Despite those minor bellyaches, it was fun to see with some good violence effects, some tension, some humor, and a quite elaborate set for a Fringe show - a real couch? In this economy?? NOTE: I know two people involved with this show.

The Uncle You Want To Visit Again & Again

Uncle Walt was classic Fringe dark comedy. Very clever story premise wrapped around the ghost of Walt Disney. The cast was excellent especially Jeffrey Goodson as Walt! The hour moved very fast and I love when that happens to keep my interest up. Highly recommend you see this show.

A surefire new Disney classic!

I love a good dark comedy and this one fit the bill perfectly! Jeffery Goodson was perfectly cast as Uncle Walt - a wonderful performance that gave the show the boost it needed to put it "heads above" the rest. A surefire new Disney classic!!

Great show, quirky/Fringy plot

Very well done! In my opinion, Jeffery Goodson's performance as Walt is a must-see of this year's Fringe.

Uncle Walt

Do you ever go to a Fringe show and then find out that you know one of the cast members? That happened to me at the show, which made it all the more fun. I liked that the program explained the references that many would have otherwise gone over my head. The story I thought was quite gripping as you never quite knew the way it would go.

Violent, goofy dark comedy with a surreal twist

This one was a lot of fun. It started a little slow but once Walt gets involved, everyone plays off each other incredibly well (Jeffery Goodson steals the show as Walt Disney). Very zany, surreal vibes off of this one, from both the script and the performances. This show loves to play with how ridiculous the situation they're in is, and it works very very well. A few times the violence felt a little *too* real and it made me uncomfortable, but most of them hit that "cartoon violence" threshold really well. I also couldn't tell if the show actually wanted to discuss/unpack Disney as a person and a company, or if they were just in it for the jokes - that uncertainty was distracting at times. But those are minor gripes, and if the premise sounds interesting to you then you'll enjoy yourself. Just make sure you sit in the center section: we were on one of the sides, and the show's blocking didn't always account for people being in 3 directions.

Creative Extrapolation from a bit of Disney Lore

The backstory (lore) is that when Walt Disney died, his head was frozen and is preserved at the Haunted House Ride. Imagine if that were true, and let your (maccob) creative juices flow from there... All three actors were very professional, with makeup and everything! Subtle set dressing to help establish the time frame—such as a case of Hamm's beer. Dragged out slightly longer than necessary, but worth every second.

Walt Disney's frozen head is alive, talking and conniving to get a body He is targeting two brothers who are not the brightest lights in the chandelier. Blood will be shed. What would Mickey do?

Clever idea and a fun time

This was a very clever script that's reminiscent of the type of humor found with The Simpsons, Monty Python and Mel Brooks. Sharp direction makes the most of the venue, and Jeffrey Goodson's performance as Walt steals the show. A must-see this Fringe!
