The fun with this show, is a different experience every time! I look forward to making it back another performance to see a new version. Agree with another review about it being a nightly event at the fringe party. Engaging use of time.

Twin Cities Powerhouses

This show combines so many of my favorite performers in the Twin Cities. Denzel is the perfect host, I could listen to him talk about anything, but for this show in particular, he does a great job of drawing the audience in and making you feel like you’re part of the show. The stand up was hilarious, Shiloh was great connective tissue for the whole show, making me laugh with anything she did. Smartmouth is another twin cities staple you’ve got to see — their sketches and short form improv make this show feel fresh and fun. Not to mention the interview portion and the music! Overall, I have no notes, this is just a great way to spend an hr and they do a new show every night, so check them out!! This is a phenomenal group of performers that do wonders on their own, but put em all together and it’s magic baby. Brava.

Solid variety show

As with all variety shows, it's hit and miss. This show was more a hit than a miss, and the performers appeared to be enjoying themselves. I know Denzel from his work with Brave New Workshop and I'm glad he found this vehicle!

excellent host, great idea

It was wonderful to have our own little Minneapolis version of The Late Show. Special shoutout to the host and musician, both did so fantastic with everything

A fast-paced variety show

This was a very fun hour of stand-up, sketch comedy, interviews and music. The line-up changes every show.

No thanks

I saw the 4th show and was disappointed. The comedians were fine, but I wasn't impressed with the improv. The Taylor Swift bit got old fast, and the 'messages from Denzel' were just plain awkward. Maybe if I was already familiar with these performers I would've enjoyed it more, but as an outsider I can't recommend it.

Fun!

I saw the second show. It is a fun late-night show with a MN focus. It was fun learning more about Rev Kessen. The sketch comedy was just okay. The second comedian at the top was great. Denzel was cute and a good host.

All The Kitties!

This show was so much fun! I have been living here just over 5 years from the East Coast, so going into it I didn't know if I would catch all the jokes. It made me feel like a true Minnesotan! Bailey was a wonderful energized host, brightening up my Thursday evening. This show has it all: music, improv, and a goofy lil guy that kept us giggling during scene changes. It was comfortable like a late night talk show with the connectivity of sharing laughter with the community. All the kitties! :3

Lots of Variety

Some music, lots of comedy, some reflection and some serious moments. Tonight's show talked about the origins of the show, race and censorship. Do pizza, sushi and comedy blend well?

Should be a nightly event at Fringe After Hours

Denzel is the next Twin Cities comedy superstar

I have been blessed to witness Denzel’s rise in comedy from his 101 showcase at HUGE Theater, and this showcase serves as a victory lap in not only writing, but producing as well. Doing five different shows is not an undertaking that any Fringe director would take lightly. I went to the Sunday 2:30 show and from the warm-up comic through the closing music, I was captivated. Shyloh Blake served as a comedic and familiar through-line that immediately made the audience feel comfortable and welcome. I was crying from laughing at Ellie Hino’s set, and will be quoting “I’m from Wisconsin, I do both positions” till the day I die. When Denzel sat at his desk, he did a beautiful and funny story about his mother that showed his prowess in narrative while flexing his heartwarming muscles. Smartmouth Comedy provided a nice break in flow with a silly sketch, but they really shined in their short-form bits. And I would be remiss to not shoutout Kelliann Kary, whose timing, tone and physicality is pure genius, quite simply. The show ended with James Rone’s beautiful music, whose crystal-clear voice transported me to my Happy Place and wish I could turn on the radio and hear him on The Current. Unfortunately for everyone not there, this was a one-night affair. I am already plotting to see if I can go to another show, because Denzel being the prolific producer he is satiated my funny bone, while also making me want another serving.

Ham Lake "ham"

Eight reviews so far....all good ones. Here's my theory on Kitty Ratings. Patrons are "MN Nice." So if they do not like the show, they give NO review rather than a bad one. I am going to buck the trend here. I didn't enjoy this show. Too loud, too much forced enthusiasm from the actors (comedians), too much boisterous exaggerated laughter from the middle row at Mixed Blood (7 pm Thurs night.) We, in the front row, were not as enthusiastic. Jokes delivered too quickly. Couldn't hear many of them because of overriding laughter from middle row. Jokes for the "in-crowd." If you were in the "out-crowd" like me you didn't understand all of them I particularly loved Farmer David from Ham Lake... examining and questioning the booking requirement by Taylor Swift for her performance at a tiny dive bar in a tiny town. We need to encourage more "diversity" in the ratings. All the shows CANNOT be 4.5 - 5.0 Kitties. That's why we have
