Writer/PerformerMotz (rhymes with boats) is a playwright and storyteller who has been creating his own spin on solo shows for the MN Fringe as Paper Soul since 2013. Other titles from Fringes past you might recall are SOFT, Rewind-A-Buddy, and Knifeslingin'! Anti.Hero concludes the "unplanned" solo storytelling trilogy began at the 2022 MN Fringe with the eponymous Paper Soul, exploring Motz's life alongside Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey, followed by last year's NPC! (Non-Player Character) where Motz explored stories more akin to "side quests". Now he gets to play THE VILLAIN! Motz works for UMTYMP in the Math Center for Educational Programming at the University of Minnesota. He hosts Workplace Drama (a monthly storytelling jam at Strike Theater), serves on the artist committee for the MN Fringe, and sits on the board for Theatre Pro Rata. MWAhahahaaaaa...well, hero...here we are again. Long have I waited for this moment… YOU, in my clutches! ME, finally on the verge of triumph! There is no escape for you now! At least for the next 45 minutes. We're not so different, you and I. Perhaps in another Fringe Show we could have worked together, even! Like in that show where I pretended to sweep. Or that other show where I almost got SUED. But now it's too late. Now I have you right where I want you!
I guess we have some time until my mechanized army ants eat through the rope and plunge you into my pit of boiling acid magma...you know, the giant pit of boiling acid magma underneath HUGE Theater? Full of my swarms of mutant piranha? Trust me, it's THERE. So I suppose now would be the best the time for all villains to MONOLOGUE.
Join me, the now EVIL Motz (rhymes with WEEVIL floats), as I take you on the journey of how I went from Hero, to Side Character, to VILLAIN. The storytelling trilogy CONCLUDES! (No prior viewing of the other two shows necessary!) MWAhahahaaaaa...
