Not That Funny

This is more stand-up comedy than a narrative of being home-schooled. A great premise, a few chuckles, but overall not that funny.

Disappointed

Tristan says he was homeschooled, but that was about as far as that theme went. This was not storytelling; it was stand up and needed a lot of work. Seemed like he threw it together this week and hadn't even tried to practice it; he admitted as much numerous times when he lost his train of thought and apologized for checking his notes. His jokes really didn't land well, though a few people chuckled, but mostly it was disappointing because the title itself could have lent itself to some great material in the genres of comedy and storytelling and neither happened.

Stand up with a new show?

We have seen Tristan in the past and loved him! But we attended his first show this year, and he was definitely off his game. The accents (especially his trip to New Zealand) didn't seem to hit the theme of home schooling, and, if kept in his show, need some more work. But he knew it, and I future attendees will see a sharper, more focused show.

Stand up comedy

Great stand up comedy, around a central theme of being homeschooled in the Midwest, but also including elements of Lord of the Rings, travel to New Zealand, and growing up Lutheran.

Very fun stand-up

Tristan is endearing. We were his first show, and he seemed a bit nervous through parts of it; but he has really good material; astute observations (iykyk); and a winning delivery when he’s in the zone - which he was in for much of the time. It’s at BLB; get a beverage and a snack, and enjoy some laughs!

Stand-up at the Fringe

I adore stand-up and I go to, watch and listen to a lot. So I was excited to see stand-up in the Fringe this year. Miller’s stage demeanor is engaging, but the material is not.

New Locally-Grown Fav

Maybe I’m just the exact target audience for Tristan’s brand of comedy, but I had an absolute blast at this show!! From the H-O-T-T-doo-doo-doo to the MidwestxNewZealand observational humor, this set made me feel “sentimentally ill” in the best kinda way.

Miscellaneous stand-up ...

I was expecting more about having been home-schooled, but this turned out to be miscellaneous stand-up that was not as well rehearsed as it probably should have been ... there were many chuckles from some in the audience, but not a lot of good laughs.

Tristan’s stand up

Tristan’s jokes about being midwestern and homeschooled are light and funny. Insights about his travels are also amusing. Even his jabs toward me (I am his father and the principal of his homeschool) got me to laugh. It seemed like the rest of the audience enjoyed them also.

Great stand-up comedy

We had a really fun time at this show! There were lots of laughs as Tristan shared his life experiences along with a few impressions, one-liners, and observations. If you like stand-up comedy, you’ll have a great time at this show.

Stand-up Comedy!

I don't think I've ever been to a show at Fringe that was Stand-Up Comedy! I feel like the closest things I've seen is storytelling. It was nice to experience something outside of the typical fringe box. I related very closely to a lot of Tristan's jokes, which made them all the funnier for me. This homeschooled church gal IDENTIFIED. Perhaps that's not a good thing? Either way, I enjoyed it and laughed a bunch.

Show needs more work

Unfortunately, this stand-up fell flat for me, and at times, it felt unorganized. I wanted to hear more bits about the homeschooling part, and instead, it was more impressions and accents to talk about this man's travels.
