Powerhouse!

Mikala has that rare gift of being a unique force of nature but also very relatable. The show is extremely funny and I loved her little bits of riffing, like the back and forth she had with her parents who were in the audience the night I went.

Confetti and cake-spattered fun

Mikala Bierma is a powerhouse performer, and she's having a damn good time with this energetic show. It's lewd and crass and funny and messy and all the things that people look for in a solo Fringe show. I wish it could have landed at a bigger conclusion than "I was born to be a loud character actor, and I've finally decided to own it!", but it's a hell of a ride, and you will laugh a lot.

Feeding the Children

I'm an actor with a 3 YO kid... and part of this show explored the choice to be a parent and put your acting career on the backburner temporarily and I can RELATE. With the Toddler Lunch Song I felt personally attacked and simultaneously seen. :) Overall - super fun and highly recommend.

MOTHER

A phenomenal exploration of trauma, the body, motherhood, and cake by a singularly talented performer. Hilarious, emotional, inventive, viscerally personal---this is a Fringe show not to be missed. The home video of her high school stand-up had me SCREAMING.

Hilarious, relatable and real.

An epic performance by a hilarious and very gifted performer. Laughs all the way through. This show is very relatable and real with a deep level of emotion on top of layers of hilarious quips and self deprecation. Exceptional and must see!

Nasty Girl

Mikala Bierma and Christina Boucher nailed a show on owning who you are, the small parts, big parts, parts that have changed and parts you’ve left behind. I love how the show touches on why performing in general is so special and important for her and it’s just FUN. There’s nothing better than seeing someone go ALL OUT and that’s exactly what Mikala does in Parts.

Strong performer, mediocre show

In my opinion, this was a series of disconnected skits, some better than others. The performer is clearly very talented, and not afraid to get right in the audience's face. Some bits went on far too long (the 'choreography' section especially), while others I loved (the opening slideshow!!). Overall I think it could've used more cohesion and fewer transitions, though I did like the choice of music

If IFS therapy...fucked?

Yes, a nice exploration of our ~multitudes~ but Mikala Bierma also makes sure that you walk out having had FUN. I was lucky to see an earlier iteration of this show and was impressed with the additions and happy with what remained e.g., emotionally resonant cake, silly audience participation, and a masterful rendering of Rumpelstiltskin.

sorry for using this pun review name so now you can’t. I’ve seen this show before and went to see it again because there are some parts of it I want to see again and again.

Waiting Often for that Hard Stop

This show appeared to be several skits that didn't connect much done by a woman who really likes attention. I found it loud and not particularly clever. Shows are hard to put together and bring to life and she did do that! But it was really unclear what her message was beyond 'here are several parts of me.' Unfortunately, there was nothing particularly unique or special about those parts, no conflict overcome, no transformation, no reason the audience should/would be interested in watching her pop open a confetti can.

Hilarious! Fearless! PowerPoints!

I was talking with someone who saw Mikala’s previous run of this show at Bryant Lake Bowl and they felt that stage was a little too small to contain such a presence. Well the Southern was a great fit as Bierma provides enough energy to light the whole building. Very engaging, filthy comedy but the more serious moments are well-earned. My favorite “part” was Mikala doing a certain action onstage (no spoilers) while a video of her performing standup as a teenager plays in the background. A standout of the menu solo shows this year.

There's a part for everyone here

This show is so so silly, and covers so much ground. Mikala carries herself with a very business-professional poise, but also hunches over into a gremlin-y Rumplestiltskin, and does some extremely wacky bits I won't give away. This show was also really well-paced, and carried its momentum for the whole hour wonderfully. Also a solo show in the Southern is bold (talk about a big space!) but Mikala owns every inch of the stage. Go check this out!
