Griffy LaPlante

Playwright/Director
Griffy (Emma) LaPlante (they/them) is a playwright and fiction writer whose work finds its roots in anarchist and abolitionist practices. In their stories, they present and re-present their experiences with land defense movements, workplace organizing, care work, and badly facilitated meetings alongside depictions of collapsing systems and fascism writ large and small. Through it all: A rejection of nihilism, an interweaving of left-wing scholarship on historical material conditions, and an embrace of the philosophy of “natality,” in Hannah Arendt’s use of the term. Griffy is a current MFA student at The City College of New York. They were raised in Indiana and now split their time between New York City and Minneapolis.

Nicholas Johnson (they/he) is delighted to appear on the Fringe Fest stage for the first time. This is his first full-length theatrical production in the Cities. Recent credits include Gross Indecency with Indiana University Student Theater and the inaugural production of Nice Jewish Boy, a new work.
