karaoke and burlesque, a nice combo

I like singing karaoke and I have enjoyed attending burlesque shows so this was a nice combo. Although much like when I previously went to this show during Fringe, I was focused on singing when it was my turn. I barely noticed the performer, aside from when she left a glove on my shoulders during her striptease. Enjoyed the wide variety of costumes, as well as the song choices.

laughed a lot

even though I was expecting it to be mostly about Taylor Swift, I liked many of the other pop-culture references in it and understood most of them. as a Lady Gaga fan I liked seeing her fandom represented. laughed a lot because of the social commentary about fandom and how it can get to be divisive at times. only thing I didn't laugh at was the 'stealing a TV' segment as it was hard to understand how it fit the rest of the show. the funniest had to be the Easter bunny hating Taylor Swift for improper usage of the term 'Easter egg'.

re-calibration should have been earlier

Saw this one because I had seen previous plays that Heather Meyer is in. one line stood out to me, it was when a man said 'we should re-calibrate why we are here'. this should have been said much earlier. the troupe tried to be funny at first, then switch to being serious and speak about the death of their friend, and it is hard to pull off doing both. pick one or the other, is what I say. I was on board with the serious part, as the passing of a friend is relatable. but too much of the comedy part didn't land with me, aside from Heather who is good at being dour, and the one called Anton who wore a white shirt with a kitten on it. those two didn't have as many lines as others did, proof of how 'less is more' is often true.

last minute replacement was good

I tend to pick most shows I am going to see before the festival begins, but when I read about this one in the Fringe's email as a last-minute replacement I said I wanted to see it. the Counting Crows song 'Mr. Jones', which mentions flamenco, was partly what got me there. the acrobatics were good, and the singing sounded good even though I don't know Spanish. The show works for me as I liked seeing a simulated bullfight using the dancers as well.

I like karaoke

I liked this show because I like karaoke. There were some nice selections, such as Lauren Daigle's 'You Say'. The show sends a powerful message about the importance of believing in yourself. One important fact- how this was based on a true story- would have been nice to hear when the show began, except it was mentioned only at the end. Saw the show because I have seen Silly Miss Tilly perform before, and one time I even performed with her. The show card had limited information on it, hearing more of what the show is about might be helpful to some potential attendees.
