Video Trailer
Cast and Crew
Cameron Cylkowski
Actor
Cameron is a local comedian, writer, producer, and performer. He first learned how to improv on the streets, because in life, you just need to fake it till you make it sometimes. He has been performing improv comedy since 2010, training at Second City, and iO Chicago. He is also a commercial and film actor. Currently, you can see him perform locally with his improv groups 'Party Slice' and 'Secret Neighbors'. He also produces a monthly comedy show at Bryant Lake Bowl called 'Tubthumping Thursdays'. Cameron is also a sketch writer on the topical show "This Week, This Week" performing at Open Fist Theater in LA. He is beyond thrilled to be working again with his incomparable friends at Smartmouth Comedy. Find him or his groups on social media to see what they are up to next. @cameroncylk @secretneighborsmn @tubthumpingthursdays
Caroline Hitt
Actor
Caroline Hitt is a professional improviser, comedian, and actress based in the Twin Cities—having lit up stages across the country with her quirky characters, sassy wit, and extreme dance moves. During the day, she does video production, but that’s boring. Caroline is a main stage troupe member at the Stevie Ray’s Comedy Cabaret performing out at the “Chanhassen Dinner Theatres. She appears regularly in the murder mystery show “Tommy Gun Trouble” at the Wabasha Street Caves in St. Paul. This is her very first Minnesota Fringe Festival appearance, and she’s so glad to be doing it some of the most talented people she knows from Smartmouth Comedy Co. Love to Matt and Grizzly!
Drue Malcolm
Actor, Writer
Drue’s been a company member of Smartmouth Comedy since 2019 and has done improv, sketch writing and performing, and just a skitchy-skitch of stand-up (which she REALLY needs to get back into because it makes her immeasurably happy, someone PLEASE GET ON HER NON-EXISTENT ASS ABOUT THAT). She owns her own business, doing masculine haircuts (Drue’s Grooming at Sola Salons, Lyndale), is married to the finest piece of (EXISTENT) ass in the state, has the foofiest dog there ever was, and is notorious for her love of poop jokes. Which means “Swiftie Thunderdump” is the CROWNING ACHIEVEMENT of her comedy career.
Garrison Shea
Composer
Heather Higinbotham
Actor
Heather Higinbotham (she/her) is new to the Twin Cities, but she's been acting for most of her life, having performed in countless plays and musicals in and around her hometown of Orem, Utah since the age of seven. Recent roles include Sergia Saranoff in Arms and the Man (Queered Classics, 2024), Milky-White in Into the Woods (Sandy Arts Guild, 2023), and Herr Schultz in Cabaret (Daydreamer Theatre, 2023). Heather is proud to represent lanky trans women everywhere who have to bend down when they walk through doorways, and she hopes to see more of her kind represented onstage in the coming years.
Julia Alyn
Actor
Julia Alyn (Amundson) is thrilled to be working again with Smartmouth Comedy this Summer for MN Fringe! Recent credits include ‘Mac’ in Smartmouth Ruins: It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, ensemble in The TC: Sketch Comedy Show, and ‘Magenta’ in The Rocky Horror Show. Julia graduated from the University of North Dakota with a BA in Theatre Arts, completed a year long acting apprenticeship at Florida Studio Theatre, and the Open Jar Institute Actor Training Program in NYC. When not performing, she loves snuggling with her two cats and watching food review shows on YouTube with her husband.
Kelliann Kary
Director, Writer
Kelliann Kary is a founding producer of Smartmouth Comedy. She graduated from the Peck School of the Arts with a BFA in Acting in 2012 and moved to the Twin Cities shortly after. Though her degree is in performance Kary is an established playwright, director, and producer in the Twin Cities. Her favorite projects include co-writing and directing Smartmouth's first full length play and sell out hit, Who Killed Ariel?: A Princess Murder Mystery and writing/directing Christmas with the Campbells, a piece inspired by her family. Kary's main focus and artistic drive is the art of making people laugh and the intense, never-ending desire to create more opportunities for women in comedy.
Kendra Yarke
Actor, Lead Writer
Kendra Yarke is a local actor, comedian, writer, kindergarten teacher, and a bona fide Swiftie. She's a "Folklore" girl through and through. She is thrilled to be a part of Smartmouth Comedy's "In Our Sketch Era" at this year's Fringe Festival! You may have seen her at last year's Fringe Festival in "Allegro" and "Adaptopus." She has been involved with Smartmouth Comedy for many years. Her favorite productions with them have been "Who Killed Ariel" and "Director's Cut: Survivor." She hopes you've been having a sparkling summer and that you enjoy the 2024 Fringe Festival!
Megan Guidry
Actor
Megan Rene Guidry (she/they) is excited to be back performing in the MN Fringe Festival. Megan is a producer for Smartmouth Comedy Co and has been working with them since 2016. When not performing, Megan loves long walks on the beach at sunrise -- or they would, if they enjoyed beaches or the sun. Instead they spend their time in the theater where it is dark and not well ventilated. They didn't really have anything interesting to say so this is their bio. If you've taken the time to read this -- thank you, and have fun watching In Our Sketch Era!
Michael Salazar
Writer
Michael is a Twin Cities native with a love for pop culture, writing and a good giggle. He has been acting in a variety of projects for almost 15 years, and performed his first Fringe show in 2011. In 2019, he wrote and directed his first show “Hexes on Exes”. In Our Sketch Era marks his first writing experience with the Fringe! He can’t wait for you all to see these hilarious sketches from some of the best writers in the city. This night is sparkling, don’t you let it go!
Morgan Gray
Writer
Morgan Gray is a sometimes writer based in the Twin Cities and is thrilled to be in her Sketch Era with Smartmouth Comedy! She’s lucky to have been improvising and acting with the company for 8 years and hopes they invite her back for 8 more. Gray is also a writer and co-editor for the Minnesota-based satire site The Nordly and is still, unfortunately, very active on the website formerly known as Twitter @mmmmalright and on Instagram @mmmmalright.
Nick Kary
Actor, Writer
Making his long awaited return to the stage (mostly by his mother), Nick Kary has long been looking for the exact right moment to come out of his 15 year hiatus (definitely not because he hasn't been asked to be in anything since high school) and there was no better show than In Our Sketch Era from Smartmouth Comedy ran by the incredibly funny, smart, and talented Kelliann Kary (all of those things would be true even if it wasn't his wife (also when we will stop talking about nepobabies and more about nepohusbands?)). If you feel that the wait was worth it, you can go check out his podcast Friendly Competition wherever you find podcasts.
