Luke Hiland is a twin cities director/actor/improviser and a current senior at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, where he is pursuing an acting B.F.A. He is the artistic director of Big Blue Theatre and the production manager for Stage 2 Theatre Company. He is deeply passionate about supporting artists and creating spaces for their work to thrive. He strives to create work that provides healing for all participants in the theatrical experience. His work is founded on Joy, compassion, and creativity.

Big Blue Theatre is a new-works theatre located in Woodbury, Minnesota dedicated to producing bold, innovative, and original works. Big Blue was founded in 2021 by Luke Hiland and Thomas D. Nelson and has produced over a dozen original works since. Noted for their use of absurdism, trademark humor, and engenuity in using found spaces, they are dedicated to uplifting the work of artists of all kinds. They strive to create theatrical productions that not only excel artistically, but that are founded in  joy. You can see their upcoming production "TV-Terror" this fall.
