A Hoot

My group saw this on a whim during it's 10 o'clock set and witnessed the LUST sermon. The after dark comedy was riotous and the improv song-making was an impressive feat. (The spiritual number "It Ain't My Fault Your Husband Wants to F*ck Me" has been an earworm since.) As with improv, some transitions felt forced and the folks were playing catch-up with each other, but quite well at that. Somehow the songs that were scripted, or at really seemed to be, were the lowest points of the show. The Spirit is strong with this one!

Such a great show, most I have laughed in a very long time.

This show is a blast! Hannah has a charisma that had the entire audience chanting along! Great character work from everyone involved! Awesome guests, and really just a great time all around!

Fabulous start, ran out of steam

Creativity 5; Production Value 4; Interest (subjective) 2 This is a tough one, the first 15 minutes were absolutely incredible: engaging, funny, well-acted and well-sung. But then it devolved seriously into a lascivious set of improvised sketches. Not that I am a prude, but honestly, it became sort of boring and lost my interest. Though, as you can tell from other reviews, the 10pm Saturday crowd mostly loved it.

Powerful talent with powerful acommpaniment

Hannah Wydeven is a tour de force who brings other super-talented people along for a fun ride. Check this show out but get your tickets early; the Wed showing was completely full.

I Feel Jesus in the Barker Tonight

This show had simultaneously some of the most hilarious and some of the most awkward moments I’ve experienced so far at Fringe. Some beats and songs worked splendidly. Some did not (and most of the songs went on too long, in my opinion). I would’ve loved to see Charlotte used more. But the pastor has a stunning voice, and as a Christian, I found the concept and a lot of the digs at megachurches/cults very funny.

I highly suggest seeing this show. Stopped in on a whim and was absolutely impressed. What fantastic performers across the board!!

OMFG

This isn't fiction. She's obviously lived this and survived to give it the treatment it deserves. A little triggering for this recovering evangelical but so worth it and so many laughs!

Is nothing sacred?

Nope. Not if it means shying away from parodying evangelical meetings/services. This talented group creates a musical improvisation around a preacher of questionable values, her reluctant child, an angelic choir, and a baby Jesus I can't picture in a manger. Great vocal and improv skills and a lot of fun. Some audience participation but nothing scary.
