Poop jokes for 60 minutes
That's what it is. If you're into that, you will be well taken care of.

Show: Yo-Ho-Hum: A Pirate's Midlife Crisis
Venue: Theatre in the Round
Disjointed, ok
The show plays like a show meant for children, just has that vibe with the performances and comedic delivery. But it has a couple swear words and a drawn-out "seaman" joke, and the disjointed nonlinear structure might be confusing to kids. I thought the co-lead had good chemistry and fit the tone, but she gets dropped from the story once Blackbeard appears. Also did they bring those two kids on board just to sweep during the preshow?

Show: The Life Robotic
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre
Easy recommendation, fun premise
I don't think I've ever seen a show hand over so much power to the audience. And yet the cast handled it all so well and so hilariously, even when presented with incredible curveballs. Like when out of nowhere the robot admitted he was responsible for creating the atomic bomb! Some sweet moments too even.
Company: Mikala Bierma
Show: PARTS
Venue: The Southern Theater
Powerhouse!
Mikala has that rare gift of being a unique force of nature but also very relatable. The show is extremely funny and I loved her little bits of riffing, like the back and forth she had with her parents who were in the audience the night I went.
