No Mystery: See It!
Never a dull moment. Great script, acting, set, and costumes.

Still Worth It
Not as funny as last year's show but still fairly funny.
Company: The Miller Conspiracy
Show: The Banana Wars
Venue: Phoenix Theater
Don't Let This Slip Past You
I liked the elements of history, politics, geography, and biology. The time shifting was okay. But I wish there were fewer side bars and more of a nitty gritty, chronological story of the actual banana wars.
Company: The World Crime League
Show: We Were Only Henchmen
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Pretty Good
The premise for this is great, but unfortunately the show wasn't quite as interesting or funny as I had hoped. Still, it definitely had many worthwhile moments.

A Classic, Well Done
An excellent introduction to Harold Pinter, one of last century's most important playwrights.
Company: Rebecca Wickert
Show: Seance Sisters

A Must See-ance
This was really great. It gave me a real sense of the spiritualist movement, both as to how it was performed, its emotional attraction, and its history. Plus the acting, costumes, and props were great.
Company: Transatlantic Love Affair
Show: 5 x 5

Uneven Enjoyment
The first four stories were re-tellings of well-known stories. If you're going to that, you have to bring something extra to it to make it interesting. Unfortunately, only Nosferatu (5 Kitties) did that for me. Jurassic Park was uninteresting and went on far too long. The fifth story was an obscure folk tale, so merely telling it well worked for me (4 Kitties). For me it was an uneven batch that averages out to 3.5 Kitties.

For Shakespeare Fans
I'm a big Shakespeare fan but I tend to skip over most of the song lyrics in his plays. Most of the original tunes are unknown, so it provides a chance for musical creativity. The one song that worked best for me was when they combined a Shakespeare lyric with a well know modern tune. I wish they had done more of that. What didn't work for me is their sometimes doing the same lyric to two or three different tunes. They should have just picked just one version and done more, different lyrics instead. It was also difficult to decipher about half of the lyrics, until I quickly figured out that this could be done if you watched the singer's lips closely (so pick a seat where you can do that). Overall, I would recommend this for Shakespeare fans to gain another level of appreciation for his work.

Mostly Just Amusing
I'm a fan but I didn't enjoy this as much as his previous shows. The story about the house dragged on much too long. The stories were mostly just amusing, not rip-roaringly funny. Still, there is a pleasure in just seeing him again after so long an absence from the Fringe.
Company: Tristan Miller
Show: Least Likely To Succeed: Tales From A Midwestern Homeschooler
Venue: Bryant Lake Bowl
Not That Funny
This is more stand-up comedy than a narrative of being home-schooled. A great premise, a few chuckles, but overall not that funny.
Company: TROMPE L'OEIL
Show: Gasthaus
Venue: Phoenix Theater
Solid
No big surprises in the plot but very well done.
Company: W.A.S. Productions
Show: A Number

Who Are You?
If you're a huge fan of Caryl Churchill, as we are, this will not disappoint. Her plays rarely get performed in Minnesota, and part of the reason may be that they tend to be under an hour long – making them perfect for the Fringe. A searing look into what makes us who we are.
