Martin Dockery
Writer/PerformerBrooklyn-based Martin Dockery spends the majority of the year touring his twelve one-person shows and seven two-person plays through Canada, Australia, the UK, and the US. Shows include: Wanderlust, The Surprise, The Bike Trip, The Holy Land Experience, The Exclusion Zone, The Sex Life of Butterflies, Forbidden City!, Every Good Story Ends With One, Bursting Into Flames, The Dark Fantastic, One Easy Lie, and TRUTH. He’s performed at just about every fringe theatre festival in North America, winning 50 awards along the way. He’s also performed at The Melbourne Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, and twice headlined the London Storytelling Festival in England. Dockery has also written and toured seven plays, including Oh That Wily Snake!, The Pit, Inescapable, Moonlight After Midnight, Love Is A Battlefield, The Stakeout, and Long Night of The American Dream. During the pandemic, he created and performed a new monologue every five weeks, broadcasting them online from the backdoor of a cottage in Montauk, NY. They are all available on YouTube under the name “Right Now,” followed by the name of the month. He has a degree in English from Kenyon College (where he won the Paul Newman award for acting) and an MFA in playwriting from Columbia University.
