Company: Martin Dockery
Show: Martin Dockery: TRUTH
Venue: Theatre in the Round
Wonderfully layered storytelling
We see Martin’s shows whenever he comes to town! They are always top-notch, a Fringe priority. He takes three ordinary weekend events and spins them into an hour of hilarity, brutally honest insights on human nature, all with the line between truth and fiction blurred.. but where?! Very fun!
Company: Linnea Bond
Show: Heart Ripped Out Twice And So Can You!
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance
Astonishing
I don’t have words to describe how precisely and how hard this show hit (in a good way). I would give it a million stars (kitties). Sharply written, brilliantly performed, it drew all of the emotions out. She held our whole audience waiting for her next words. And we laughed, in spite of, or as a response to, all of the darkness. Please come to Minnesota, again!
Company: Paco Erhard | German Comedy International
Show: An Honest* History of Bullshit
Venue: HUGE Improv Theater
Go see Paco!
He came all the way from Germany, and Australia, and Canada!, to bring an energetic, clever, and laugh-out-loud show to us. Political humor, human humor, and German humor (not an oxymoron) - we thoroughly enjoyed the show, and hope that he comes back on future Fringe seasons. If you have one show left, end on a funny note with this show, and get an ice-cream cone at Milk Jam afterwards!
Company: American School of Storytelling
Show: More Better Stories
Venue: American School of Storytelling
Brilliant storytelling
Howard is a master storyteller, and these stories from his long, colorful life pack a wallop to the heart. We’re grateful to have seen him once again at Fringe. Catch him if you can
Company: Victoria Montalbano
Show: The Princess Strikes Back: One Woman's Search for the Space Cowboy of her Dreams
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Good storytelling
Victoria (‘not Vickie’) was very entertaining. If you like Fringe shows featuring a performer talking about their experiences, with humor and poignancy, this is a good one -
Company: Big Empty Barn Productions
Show: Bremner Sings Everything In New Orleans Is A Good Idea
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance
Yes! This is why we have Fringe!
Bremner is an incredible musician (singer and guitar); that alone is worth going for. His storytelling is transporting, open-hearted, soulful. The context of New Orleans, and what he learned there, what he found there, was fascinating and beautiful. Storytelling at its best.
Company: Tristan Miller
Show: Least Likely To Succeed: Tales From A Midwestern Homeschooler
Venue: Bryant Lake Bowl
Very fun stand-up
Tristan is endearing. We were his first show, and he seemed a bit nervous through parts of it; but he has really good material; astute observations (iykyk); and a winning delivery when he’s in the zone - which he was in for much of the time. It’s at BLB; get a beverage and a snack, and enjoy some laughs!
