Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Irreverent and fun

The show is very fun, and the actors (especially Crowley) did a great job. A lot of time is spent on characters introducing themselves, and I wished there was more plot. I like a little irreverent comedy, but by the end the irreverence felt like more of a crutch

Company: Special When Lit
Show: Bury The Leads
Venue: Mixed Blood

Love this duo!

Both the actors did a great job, very entertaining. Hard to tell how much was improvised--the audience suggestions didn't seem to figure much into the final product. The pre-recorded transitions were some of my favorite bits

Company: Budding Heads
Show: Scab for Hire
Venue: The Southern Theater

Tonally confused

Started off strong! The silent movie elements were done very well, and I wish it had maintained that energy throughout the show. The inciting conflict is so sudden and brief it had me confused, and the aftermath feels painfully dry and drawn-out. Ended on a nice note, but I can't help but think of the middle section of the play as filler for an otherwise interesting and well-executed show

Company: milk rat orchestra
Show: Fly Tape
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

A down-to-earth story w/ a dash of meta-absurdity

The characters were so so strong. As an eldest daughter, this felt like a painfully real cross-section of adult sibling dynamics. The meta element is mixed in perfectly, elevating the main story without distracting from it. Overall, a rich and well-developed narrative that was entertaining from beginning to end

Company: SUPERMOON
Show: the statue of liberty is nora in a doll's house by henrik ibsen

Perfection

So many little details in this show make it absolutely astounding. The live guitar, the 'pre-show', the lighting, and the camera work were all flawless. This show is special, a truly unique experience.

Company: C.J. Heehaw
Show: The One About the Rabbit in the Snow
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

I liked it, whatever it was!

I walked in with no idea what to expect, but it had me intrigued immediately. The dialogue seesawed between overly philosophical quandaries to shockingly mundane in a way that I found surprisingly funny. Shout out to the young actor, who had some absolutely fantastic line delivery that had the whole audience laughing out loud.

Company: an alleged Theatre Company
Show: FAST Death of a Salesman

Another 'alleged' success

So much comedy is packed into this show, it's truly a treat. The entire cast knocked it out of the park, each character with their own little foibles that add to the general chaos of the show. Brayden doesn't know what he's missing!!!

Company: Joking Apart Theater
Show: I'm Afraid, I Have To Leave
Venue: Mixed Blood

Super fun!

The actors knocked this one out of the park. The older couple perfectly captures the stereotypical overbearing parents trope, and the layers on top of that are incredible. I could feel every little passive-aggressive nudge in my soul. I think this show perfectly achieves what it wants to achieve, went above my expectations, would definitely see again!!

Company: dancing arms
Show: Space Company
Venue: Mixed Blood

I see the vision, but...

Felt awkward in a way that didn't seem 100% intentional. Granted, this was opening day, so a few hiccups are to be expected, but the tone and energy just didn't last. The flashbacks break the 'company pep rally' kayfabe, and by the end there's a completely tonal shift that had me feeling dissatisfied.

Company: Small Waves
Show: Cyrano
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Clever and heartfelt

Just a little hard to follow in the beginning, but from the moment Cyrano appeared I was hooked. Deliciously painful, great acting and dialogue, a real treat!
