Amazing

SUPERMOON has knocked it out of the park every time I've seen them, and this was no exception. That ending was insane and the music and projections throughout were super effective. 10/10 might have to catch it a second time.

PR is perfect (statue of liberty as nora)

Creativity 5+; Production Value 5+; Interest (subjective) 5 Even though I knew the Fringe title and am familiar with Ibsen's work, it took me a minute to sort out what was happening. Oh, right, the statue of liberty is playing Nora. Fantastically creative adaptation, great music, and over-the-top in a good way acting (Krogstad's few lines were especially memorable). My only gripe: it could have been in a smaller theater, so we could see the dolls better (even on the projection). Though, it was almost sold out, so that would bring other issues.

Don't You Dare Miss This Show

Wonderfully crafted. The performances, video elements, music and concept were exceptionally integrated to create a dynamic expression on the shams of society and the truths of the soul.

Did I see a different show?

The pacing was off, the script a little heavy handed, it was over acted. The music? It was overbearing. Just because the subject matter is important and compelling, does not a good show make.

Is it only day 2 of Fringe? Sure. Do I think that this might be the most talked about, best show of Fringe? Yes. A must see!!

Class Project

This one left me feeling like I would much rather have seen an updated version of A Doll House, instead of what seemed like an acting class scene. Very self-indulgent and frequently dull. Skill level was fine, but actual scenes might have been more impactful. There were many missed chances to take actual risks on stage.

Best Fringe Play of Ever?!

I don’t want to say much here, but trust me: This is a must see experience for anyone interested in considering Lady Liberty in the context of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and beyond. Love and freedom, and how and by whom they got so tangled in the first place…Live soundtrack was unbelievable, too. Yes, best Fringe play of ever.

Rock on, Supermoon

Each endeavor from Supermoon feels like a high flying act with no safety net - stripping away layers of convention and form to give you raw evocation. The political messaging here is tight and considered, but never overwrought. I felt space to make my own associations and fully absorb the splendor and terror on display.

A Perfectly Normal Show at Fringe

I don't think words could do any justice to the actual content that you see. The best that I can say, is that I walked into the venue and gasped at what I saw, and it only went up from there. This is a MUST SEE!

supermoon continues to make some of the greatest, original theatre in the twin cities, and I will scream it from the rooftops to get people to see this show.

Beautiful and Thrilling

Highly recommend and a must see. This performance encompasses everything - including really beautiful live sound performance that feels ambient, deep, slightly thrilling at times, shifting silhouettes with light and shadow, and many contemplative moments. The visual aspects of projection and light gives the scenes depth, and the use of video and photography has this contrasting surrealism aspect. The acting is articulated, emotion driven, and embodied. It is also very thoughtful and made me think about societal roles, expectations on gender, feminism and patriarchy. I think they did a great job at balancing the comedic points and the main narrative and felt connective.

Really interesting stuff

The parts of this show that worked for me really really worked. There are some really interesting technical elements that added a lot to the atmosphere and emotional impact of the show. At certain points the show became largely wordless and used a combination of movement, lighting, projection, and live music to tell its story, and I think I could’ve sat and watched those scene for hours. The stage is relatively bare, and I know budgets for these tend to be small, so the fact that practically all of the technical elements were so high quality was kind of amazing to me. I think the show struggled the most when it was using Ibsen’s script, which I do like on its own, but the performers were not always nailing their lines, and the overall message of the show felt kind of muddied by the script. Like it wasn’t necessarily hard to follow, but the choice didn’t quite click for me. Nonetheless I thought this show was really interesting and particularly beautiful, and I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for something kind of weird and different with a strong social message.

An intensely creative take on Ibsen

A modern rendition of DH that, through a mix of creative decisions both humorous and somber, makes us reflect on the subjugation of women in modern society. Highly recommend.

No words but WOW

I just returned home from this show, and I am still blown away. It was real and unreal, tragic and comic, electrifying and still, all of it—all packed into one hour. All three actors stole the show, and the amazing music only amplified their brilliance. I feel lucky to live in a city that celebrates live theater, and I’m going to have to follow Supermoon wherever they go. I’ll see this one again!

do yourself a favor and buy a ticket

TSOLINIADHBHI is actually the best thing i’ve seen ever period. the music? spellbinding. the pacing? spot on. the acting? will break your heart. supermoon? call me a superfan ;) I could go on and on, just see it for yourself. these guys are on fire with this one. can’t wait to see what they do next.

A feat of strength

A Doll's House was new to me, never read it, never saw the play. What I know of the story, "the statue of liberty..." tells that story in its own way. The use of dolls and the mannequin were another point of view. The feat is strength is how long Nora had to hold that torch both before the play while we were getting seated and then during the play.

Amazing.

The Statue of Liberty is Nora is the definition of what a well acted, spellbinding Fringe show should be. Please don’t miss this one!

Perfection

So many little details in this show make it absolutely astounding. The live guitar, the 'pre-show', the lighting, and the camera work were all flawless. This show is special, a truly unique experience.

See it!

I'm still ruminating on the themes and what my take away of this show is, but that's what I love about supermoon. The shows always sit with you and they don't hold your hand in telling you what to think.

The Statue Of Liberty As Nora Is My New Best Frien

Ran out of characters for the short title, bummer! You can figure out the rest, I'm sure. This show is bursting at the seams with personality. I don't want to give away any of the surprises, but the artistic choices supermoon makes throughout are thoroughly engaging, I couldn't take my eyes off the stage if I tried. The comedy and absurdism is the hook, but the way they maintain the emotional sincerity throughout is what impressed me the most.

This one is magic

Love love loved. Multimedia done right with purposeful projection; my eyes felt happy (lol?) in that they always had something beautiful/interesting to look at. Stillness used with such precision that sometimes freaked me out *and* sometimes gave me nice sense of rest. Music was stellar and wonderfully additive to the atmosphere. It's equal parts funny/moving that Lana del rey is a muse for this artist. her whole ~thing~ is especially appropriate for the ideas, vibes of this story and the source material. Another must-see from these creatives that make theater feel new and exciting and relevant.

Beautiful, eerie, and striking

Supermoon never fails to amaze me with their arresting concepts, mesmerizing images, and brilliant light and sound. This show brings you into it's own dollhouse, where everything feels strange and false—and also entirely too real. It forces you to examine America from a different perspective, through Nora, through it's own debt or cage, built upon a pedestal, or fallen from it. The cast is wonderful and all bring their own humor, strengths, and even styles of acting, which really makes the aspect of debt collection in the story stand out. Certain images have really lived on in my mind afterwards—the door, the dolls on a screen, the dress, and the last moment. Plonski's physicality at the end was chilling. An incredible piece of work and there is nothing and no one like Supermoon in the Twin Cities. I have always and will always appreciate their creativity and their dedication to greater themes brilliantly told through surrealist imagery. What an honor it is to be in an art community with them in it!

Superb! Do not miss this show!

Have seen several shows by Supermoon and have been blown away by all of them. Grappling with the major prescient issues of history and continuing to the present. Magnificent story telling, acting, production, effects. This show is thought provoking, humorous at times, expertly produced and performed. See this show. See anything Supermoon does. You could see it multiple times and be amazed each time. Their production of theatre is unique and spectacular.

Visually Striking and Emotionally Raw

Having seen the remarkable production "In the Back Room" from some of these same folks this past 4th of July, I knew this production would be powerfully unique. The mixture of performance art and staged theatre with evocative and startling visuals is so thoughtfully presented. There is a careful and deliberate mastery of visual storytelling here that I have personally never seen before. The performers trust the audience to make emotional and cultural connections, which is beautiful to feel. A striking and confident exploration of society, patriotism, and gender. An extraordinary accomplishment.

Most Thought Provoking Show

This has been the show I thought about most so far (my 8th) at this year's Fringe. I found "deep" meanings behind a number of things: the title, having Nora on a platform, the de-construction and re-construction of the mannequin, entering the house without being invited and the contrast between doll size and the larger than life images on the screen. I likey over thought this way too much! I also was bothered that I was out of sync with the audiences response to what was on stage - I wasn't laughing when they did. Most fringe shows clearly have you going towards a set, specific response to what they are presenting but this show doesn't do that. For that reason you should go and see what you make of it!

The ‘ol Statue of Liberty Play

It’s fitting that Supermoon’s latest Fringe epic stars a statue that literally sits on the fringe of America. This lo-fi warping of A Doll’s House is a true feast for the senses, with tidal waves of guitar squall and a extra video dimension that produces some gorgeous and haunting visuals. Their Kitty GPA is 5.0 for very good reasons.

Incredible Examination of a Classic

Supermoon is back with another beautiful, cerebral, surprising, intense work, this time it's literally the statue of liberty as Nora. Their creative staging literalizes and physicalizes the drama of Ibsen, making it more absurd and at points more dramatic. Every time the guitar riffed and they flashed a picture of men literally constructing the woman...chills. Fantastic use of tech, video, music, and movement. However, due to the video element, the first half of the play was mostly played to house left. Id recommended sitting in the center section or near the vom

SUPERMOON Has Outdone Themselves

I was excited to see the artists behind "All Your Shinmering Gold" back this year, and this production did not disappoint. The actors had me shivering, as did the lighting and the music. Like "All Your Shimmering Gold" I see it as as much of a performance art piece as a stage play, with the striking addition of projections and beautifully allegorical use of props, great choreography, and an uncomfortable but important message that is just as well-articulated as it is emotionally and intellectually affecting. I cannot recommend this show enough!

Wonderful

As usual, Michael Torsch produces amazing and unique art on stage. The technical aspects are enough for me to leave 5 stars, and I'm always curious to see what he creates. I left the show and am still thinking about it, and I think everyone should check it out.

So brilliant that I'm jealous

I love Ibsen's "A Doll House" (new accepted translation of the title), and have studied it in some depth, so I was excited to see whatever the hell this was. As soon as Torvald said his first line, I totally got the concept and got jealous that I hadn't thought of it. Then I quietly prayed, "Please don't fizzle out, please don't disappoint." It didn't. I don't give standing ovations, but I leapt to my feet as soon as possible. It's a brilliant, beautiful concept, and executed with precision. The dolls. The mannequin. The door. The projections. There are so many laughs on the way to the gut-punch of the new ending. Awaiting "the door slam heard 'round the world" sustains the suspense. God, this is a smart show.

Visceral, sensational.

This show made me belly laugh and sob convulsively (not hyperbole). Insightful, bizarre, gorgeous, inventive, and expertly crafted. A masterclass in setting, warping, and shattering expectations; and a demonstration of some of the most creative minds in Twin Cities theater. Truly sensational.

Never miss SUPERMOON at Fringe. EVER.

I still reel at SUPERMOON's theatrical monument to our absurd moment of privatized warfare that was @All Your Shimmering Gold" last year. But we can't rest on laurels. "statue of liberty " 🗽 is another triumph for them, though one that isn't so explicit about whatever political comment it's making, if it's making any at all, and that's fine with me. Whether I demand that audiences for the show believe that the show is about how America's over lords and super-power brokers need symbols like the SoL as an avatar, in this a "doll", to assign roles like "wife", "mother", a "thing" to "desire, protect, instruct, especially instruct to demonstrate duty to the Head of Household", to perform their duties as part of a fundamental class of participants whose job is to reinforce and therefore propagandize the reproductive functions of the nation-state, and any deviant behavior to escape such a nation-state propaganda factory to actually actualize yourself based on the constitutional values of your nation-state will be met with gaslighting, hostility, bargaining, and so forth until you find yourself gobbled right back into the factory's machines.... all that is for me to let swirl in my head. The show is about a woman who cannot seem to obtain her independence, because her abrogating her role in the greater social fabric would be a fatal act of un-Love to her husband. Or something. Anyway, keep on watching SUPERMOON forever and ever.

Metaphorical Absurd Theater

Live music and special effects made it all unforgettable. A must see show!
